Okay, it’s been so long since I’ve posted that I had trouble remembering the CharmingGeek.net’s URL.

Screen on the Green has been great the past two weeks. I’m looking forward to more of that. It’s been a lot of fun dragging out all my friends from around the DC area to hang out on the Mall and watch movies. Last week’s movie, was great! It had aliens, giant robots, and politics. To make things even better, the entire alien invasion was set in Washington, DC. I loved watching they flying saucer pass over the Capitol viewed from a camera angle almost exactly where I was sitting.

People always ask me what kind of music I like. Not because people are particularly interested in me. It’s just a question that people ask. Well, when I’m asked that, I usually say something vague like, “You know, whatever.” Thanks to Pandora Internet Radio, I can now answer that question, “I like Christ-centered music with a subtle use of vocal harmony, meandering melodic phrasing, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation, extensive vamping, and an emotional male lead vocal performance.” I think I also like folk influences and major key tonality. Pandora is my new personal DJ.
Pandora is based on something called The Music Genome Project, classifying songs based on hundreds of musical attributes. You then go over to Pandora.com and put in the name of a song or a band that you like, and it will create a radio station just for you based on the attributes of the song or band you entered. As Pandora continues to suggest songs it thinks you’ll like, you can say “I like it” or “I don’t like it” and the musical playlist will be automatically adjusted to fit your more specific tastes! Of course, you could have found most of this out from just reading the Pandora FAQ.

So today, I thought it would feel good to go run six miles. I was wrong.

I’m trying to squeeze this one in while it’s still today.
I just got back from the National Mall. I can’t think of a better place to spend Independence Day than in the nation’s capital. Last year I was in the original Washington for a great down-home celebration. The year before that, (or was it the year before?) I was in New York, perhaps the city that best represents America’s diversity and initiative.
However, this year, I stood on the grounds of the Capitol as I listened to the National Symphony Orchestra and watched fireworks explode over the Washington Monument. I stood in a crowd of over 400,000 people waving American Flags and dancing to music provided by Stevie Wonder as part of the Capitol Fourth celebration.
And now that I’m home, I watched the video of today’s successful liftoff of the space shuttle Discovery.
Oh, and did I mention that they have instant cheese grits at the newly remodeled Kingstowne Giant? It’s been a good day.

I want to buy some of that Axe body spray just to see if it really makes women flock to me.

I’ve pretty much stopped using shaving cream. Well, I never used cream anyway. I’ve been purely a Gillette shaving gel sort of guy, but it really doesn’t matter.
Point is, with my triple-bladed, lubricated Mach3 Turbo, shaving cream is really just unneccessary. Using shaving cream makes an additional mess and takes longer, but I really can’t see what it does for me.
I just thought I’d share that.

Nothing going on here. I’m just reading blogs at random. I laughed at least once. The one thing that really gets me is how people find so much time to write. Or so much to write. I don’t know. Maybe writing just isn’t my outlet. This site has always been more of a portal than an autobiography for me. But now I’m going to ramble.
Every once in a while, I just want to stay up. It’s usually Friday nights. I’m done with work for the week, and I just think, “how can I waste this weekend.” Usually clicking links all night and sleeping all day appeals to me. There could be some chatting on Trillian.
Tomorrow I’ll be going over to Emily’s to help her move in. She sounded pretty appreciative, but really I can’t resist an opportunity to carry boxes and furniture up stairs. I guess that’s a good thing, too since I’ll be moving at least once more before this summer’s over. Anybody need a roomie for their swank apartment or know of a sweet bachelor pad I can have for cheap?

Okay, now that that’s all locked down, where was I?
Right. I’m also excited about doing some weeding and cleaning. It’s not much yard she’s got there, and that’s okay, because I’m not that hard of a worker. It’s possible that I’m trying a little bit to make up for missing Ashley’s move. (Which probably would have involved more heavy lifting.)
