First thing I saw when I opened my blinds this morning was a tractor driving down the road in front of my house. Yes, I’m back in eastern North Carolina.
Tonight, my brother was helping my mom and I in the back yard as we re-potted our cacti when he got a call on his cell-phone. It was my dad calling from the front porch. He’d walked around the house about two minutes earlier and wanted to let us know where he was. He said the weather was really nice. You know, on that side of the house, too.
Well, when we finished our potting, Scott went around the house to see what Dad was up to, and Mom except as she went she also screamed when a frog crossed her path. Then I laughed as I took the cacti back inside.
Okay, i bought a little cactus from Wal-Mart today for my office. I wanted a plant and thought I might be able to keep a cactus alive. Plus, it reminds me of warmer climes. Well, I thought this cactus was very pretty with the little yellow flowers on it. Back at home, I realized the little plastic flowers were held on with hot glue. Who does that? Canadians, that’s who. Why do Wal-Mart’s cacti come from Canada?
Meanwhile, back at the homestead, my parents and our neighbors are both out in the street, talking to friends who were passing on the road. They’d stopped their vehicles (a golf cart and a rascal scooter) to chat. About twenty minutes later, we had a minor traffic back-up when a pick-up truck approached the two vehicles already stopped on the road. Things cleared up shortly. Most of the rest of the evening was spent standing on the edge of the lawn, chatting with our neighbors. A very nice night.
