I was watching the kids play four-square yesterday. It was the most complicated game of four-square I’ve ever seen. Among the rules that went in and out of effect (most of which were a total mystery to me) were redos, mini-mode, shoe-shine, cherry bomb, King and Queen out to lunch, electric lines, bubbles, bus stop, friendship, three musketeers, fire drill, and tornado drill. Am I the only one who didn’t know about all this?

the only one i remember of those is bus stop… but i definitely remember making up rules… something about popcorn and i don’t remember what else. i think the person ion the fourth square got to decide how we were playing.

all i do all summer is play four square with kids – and i have to say from much experience that the only thing that counts is straight up four square – perhaps bus stops but even that is debatable among the staff…. but yea – four square rocks my face off
