RALEIGH, NC: Campus Police arrested a student outside of Tucker computer lab around 8 o’clock Monday night. The student had been suspected of stealing cornbread from Fountain Dining Hall earlier in the evening. The student’s name has not been released, but it is known that she is a female and first year design school student. When Campus Police officials apprehended the suspect, she was found with more than ten pieces of cornbread in a handbag. The bread and the handbag were both confiscated. Bystanders say the suspect put up a fight and tried to escape through a window, but the well-trained police force was prepared and easily restrained her. “We will not tolerate this blatant disrespect for state property anymore. In the past, this kind of thing has gone unpunished but we are now prepared to use any force necessary to stop [the stealing of cornbread].” Prosecutors are still awaiting lab analysis on the confiscated evidence to determine conclusively that the cornbread came from Fountain. However, there is little doubt, given the observed consistency of the bread and eyewitness accounts of the suspects whereabouts less than an hour before. Read entire story
