Rebecca is so great.

Hey! Rebecca wrote about me, and people are saying mean things. Isn’t that happy?

Can I be a metrosexual?

Steven Tyler rocks my socks off. Liv Tyler is the hottest elf I know. Steven Cojocaru is just cool.

Okay, so I’m basically bored out of my mind right now. I have one more class during summer session, starting in about an hour. I got to campus early this morning and finished my last programming project before my first class. That class only lasted about 15 minutes, just long enough to hand out the take-home final and to do course evaluations. That then left me with something like four hours to kill. I suppose I could have worked on my final, but really…it’s not due for two weeks. I’ve had lunch, a nap, read some of Les Mis, walked around campus, read all my usual blogs, and I’m bored out of my mind. I should be splashing in the pool or something now. Work this afternoon, I’ve got a little break tomorrow.
Well, how about this: In The Matrix (the original), the movie playing in the Oracle’s apartment is Night of the Lepus. Do you guys remember this one? It used to play on TBS all the time. Terribly made movie about giant mutant rabbits. I believe it was still better than The Matrix: Reloaded, nevertheless.
One o’clock. Press “Return.”

This is my rant

Shopping. Shopping for socks. I am a man. That means when I go to buy socks, I can buy black socks, brown socks, or white. All athletic socks are white. All dress socks are black or brown. They cost a minimum of $2.50 a pair. So why is it that girls socks come in every shade, every pattern, stripe color combinations, prints, and for $1.50 a pair? Why am I wearing solid black socks? Life is so unfair.

Life in the city

I called the Nederlander Theatre today to exchange my rent tickets for another date. The chap on the other end wasn’t giving me a lot of love. He said I’d have to call the day of the show to find out if I could get in. Not being satisfied with that, I called back to see if I couldn’t schedule something in advance. Note, this occured at approximately 5:30 PM on a Tuesday. It went something like this:

BoxOfficeJunkie: You’ll have to talk to a manager to set that up.
bdparker: Okay, can I talk to a manager?
BoxOfficeJunkie: You’ll have to call back.
bdparker: When?
BoxOfficeJunkie: During the day.
bdparker: wha? When can i talk to a manager?
BoxOfficeJunkie: During the day
bdparker: Uh, when is the day?
BoxOfficeJunkie: We open at 10.
bdparker: Until when?
BoxOfficeJunkie: Call back during the day.
bdparker: When do you close?
BoxOfficeJunkie: 8
bdparker: but…so, from 10-8.
(I’m trying so hard to figure this out)
bdparker: It’s between 10 and 8. So when can i speak to a manager?
(This guy does drugs.)
BoxOfficeJunkie: Call back during the day.
(I’m doing my quick timezone conversion; 5:30 PM in Raleigh is….5:30 PM in New York.)
bdparker: It is the day. Where’s the manager.
BoxOfficeJunkie: I don’t know, he’s out.

This being the first actual answer I had gotten to a question, I took it as a sign that we were beginning to communicate and asked the guy out. So to recap;
The manager is there during the day. The day is between 10 and 8. Not all hours between 10 and 8 are the day. To find out which hours will be in the day, you’ll have to call the day of that hour.

Now for something completely different:

Excerpts from correspondence with a friend of mine who will remain nameless (until the end of this post).

ps.[refraining from making dumb jokes] I put up some really cool Windows system sounds for your PC on my website. You should be a dork and download them. http://www4.ncsu.edu/~bdparker/bradsounds.zip
pps. Which makes me wonder. I know you have AIM although you’re not divulging your screen name. I was wondering if you have mine.
ppps. Most people when someone says “I wonder” or something of that sort, will feel obliged to volunteer the pertinent information. You don’t always do that. Is it just with me, or are you odd?
pppps. Now my post scripts are longer than the body of this correspondence.

The Reply:

p.s Do you know the Life Way “Message”?
pps. Yes I have it.
ppps. lol. I guess I ‘m not most people. Not sure, maybe it is just with you. I can be odd though, and prefer calling it “unique”
pppps. Ahh! I just thought of a whole slew of questions, but I’ll refrain for now.

I should not be allowed to drink coffee. I am officially a coffee drinker now, and it’s not a good thing. Besides the caffiene addiction, two cups of my usual (black, maybe with a shot of hazelnut) is enough to have me bouncing off the walls for a few hours; intense, but unable to concentrate. It would be good that in a moment of mental dissociation, I should replace my ten-pound can of Master Blend with something decaffinated. Like milk.

Cream & Bean didn’t have decaf coffee. Just decaf espresso. I didn?t know decaf espresso existed. Isn?t that an oxymoron?
What time?s this wedding tomorrow? Wedding in Pine Level means a trip to the Pig and some more peach soda.
Pamela is in town. It?s good to see her around here again.
This girl came into the store today. She was pretty short for her weight, and she was breathing rather hard in my direction. She had minty fresh breath. Very pleasant.
Lighting storms are great. Victor Hugo will finish another novel before I finish Les Miserables.
